Live Scan electronically captures fingerprints for submission through the applicable California background-check process. Your requesting agency supplies the instructions for your application.
Before your appointment
- Obtain the completed Request for Live Scan Service form from your requesting agency.
- Check the agency information and requested background-check levels with that agency.
- Bring valid photo identification and the agency’s required paperwork.
- Confirm the rolling charge and applicable processing fees before your appointment.

Can I book Live Scan today?
Not yet. This service will be enabled after the required operator and provider setup is complete.
Who receives my background-check results?
Results go through the applicable agency process. The requesting agency can explain its access to results and what happens next.
Can one Live Scan be used for every job?
Do not assume results can be reused for another organization. Follow the instructions from each requesting agency.
Is the fingerprint rolling fee the entire cost?
The rolling charge and government or agency processing fees are separate components.
